Arlington Lakes Golf Club
You’ll find Arlington Lakes Golf Club in the heart of the Northwest Chicago suburbs. This club has long been considered a golf course that players call home. The Arlington Lakes Golf Club features an 18-hole course. It first opened in 1979 and offers bent grass on the greens and bluegrass on the fairways. Rental carts are available at the club, but walking is also allowed. There’s a practice range, putting green, and a teaching pro on staff.
The course underwent extensive renovations in 2016, and updates from architect Mike Benkusky rejuvenated the course, transforming it into a sought-after place to play golf.
Nickol Knoll Golf Club
Nickol Knoll Golf Club sits in Northwest Arlington Heights. Originally built in the 1990s, it quickly became one of the top par three courses in the Chicago area. It features large bent grass tees and greens, which give it the feel of a large course, but it’s a great place to play a quick nine-hole game. The Nickol Knoll course is ideal for complete beginners through seasoned experts, with holes that provide a challenge no matter your skill level.
The course allows walking, but carts are also available to rent for just $8. There are putting greens and a teaching pro on staff, but the club doesn’t have a driving range.
Rolling Green Country Club
Rolling Green Country Cub is a private golf club in Arlington Heights. It’s home to an 18-hole course that features pure white sanded bunkers, perfectly rolling greens, and tight fairways. The elevated tees allow players an excellent look at the holes and provide a challenge no matter how seasoned a golfer you are. You’ll come across beautiful ponds throughout the course that serve as both hazards and decorations, and with a course rating of 71.5, you’ll find many challenging and demanding holes.
Your match can come with a convenient caddy program. This makes it easier for the player, and the caddies have the expertise to help golfers with strategies to lower their score. The Rolling Green Country Club caddy program supports the Evans Scholarship Foundation, which provides full housing and college tuition to recipients. All the caddies are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Old Orchard Country Club
Just a short drive from Arlington Heights, you’ll find the Old Orchard Country Club. This club, which first opened in 1928, offers a country club experience to all golfers without requiring membership fees. The course features fast greens and well-maintained fairways that rival private clubs. The staff at Old Orchard Country Club is top-notch and gives players excellent personal service.
Players will find the course just challenging enough. It has narrow fairways, rolling terrain, and water hazards that come into play at nine different holes to test your accuracy and skill. Old Orchard Country Club offers leagues for all levels of play and ages. In addition, if you want some expert help with your game, private lessons are available with the two PGA teaching professionals. You can also sign up for golf clinics, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player who wants to work on improving their game.
Rob Roy Golf Course
The Rob Roy Golf Course in Prospect Heights, IL, is a par 36 course that winds through 51 acres of beautiful scenery. The course offers nine holes of challenging play with narrow fairways lined with trees that are sure to test your skills. Four holes have water traps, and you’ll also come across 15 different sand traps. Players of all levels can enjoy the course, with red, yellow, blue, and white tees offering options for any level so you can choose your experience for the day.
Rob Roy Golf Course has a putting green where you can warm up, and the club’s 10th Hole Bar and Grill is the perfect place to wind down after a game. When you want to spend some time working on your game, the Woodlands Trails Driving Range has 35 hitting stations, target greens, bunker practice areas, and a putting green. It’s also well lit, so you can practice at night.
Mt. Prospect Golf Club
Mt. Prospect Golf Club in Mount Prospect, IL, has a course that offers a challenge for golfers of all skill levels. It features tree-lined fairways and well-bunkered sloped greens. The course originally started as a private club in the 1920s and has stood the test of time as one of the most popular places to play golf in the Chicago area. It enjoys the distinction of being selected as one of the top 25 courses in the country to offer the most bang for your buck.
The newly renovated driving range at Mt. Prospect Golf Club has 40,000 square feet of bent grass, and, at over 300 yards long, players can practice with every club. The putting green and chipping green provide players with a place to work on their short game, and there are even sand bunkers if you want extra practice. The clubhouse at Mt. Prospect Golf Club is home to a pro shop and features a grill and banquet room.
